Q: I have bad acid reflux everyday – Tums and Pepsid don’t help. I’ve heard that Apple Cider Vinegar does?
Has anyone heard of this? And does it really work? I am pretty close to scheduling an appointment with my doctor, but I want to try home remedies before I do that. I’d really rather not go on a prescription – I’ve been on Prilosec before and it didn’t really seem to work. And to elaborate – Tums and Pepsid DO work somewhat, but very temporarily.

A: Yes, it can help for heartburn. I have talked to a lot of people that have gotten relief from heartburn from Aloe Vera (liquid, not softgels) and/or DGL (Deglycyrrhizinated Licorice, often in chewable tablets)… both help to soothe and call the stomach.

If the Tums and Pepsid work temporarily, that sounds normal… they neutralize the extra acid that’s in the stomach. However, when you neutralize the stomach on a regular basis, your body responds by creating more stomach acid over time (ergo the reflux). That’s why the mild acid in the ACV helps to regulate it… when your body sees that there is enough acid in the stomach, it doesn’t produce enough. Good luck!

Q: How can apple cider vinegar help acid reflux?
I read on the Internet all over that apple cider vinegar is a good remedy for acid reflux. My question is, how is this possible? They say the acid in the vinegar mimics the acid in your stomach and therefore it helps. But acid reflux is a result off TOO MUCH acid already…that has to be the case, since every medication they sell for it says ‘Acid Reducer.’ If acid reflux resulted from too little acid, you would certainly not need to reduce it. So how would taking anything acidic, like apple cider vinegar, help acid reflux at all? Wouldn’t it just make it even worse? I’m confused.

A: Actually, you’re really close… Acid Reflux is the result of too much OR not enough stomach acid.
One big problem in the theory of antacids is that when the stomach runs low on acid, the body produces more of it to finish digesting the food, which is why the acid always seems to come back after taking an antacid. Now, if you took the ACV, that’s adding a little more acid, so the body tries to regulate it and doesn’t produce more, but will keep things moving along, which will naturally reduce that over-acidity. The acid blockers are another story and are much more dangerous in the long run than antacids, but I’ll save you that story unless you’d like to hear it.
I hope that helps… some natural things are confusing until some of the background details are pointed out.

Q: Apple Cider Vinegar Role in Acid Reflux?
I am only 16, and I have a really bad case of acid reflux. I can not concentrate on anything anymore, I just want to throw up all the time, I cant eat regularly anymore, its really ruining my life. I heard that apple cider vinegar is suppose to be some magical cure to this. Well it would be helpful if someone took the damn time to tell me how to consume the apple cider vinegar… Am I suppose to put it in a shot glass and just down it once a day? Or mix it with water and if so how much?

A: my brother cured himself of gerd (aciid reflux) with a simple cure which I detail here be sure to read all the post on the thread by knowledgeseeker as I got more info form my brother I posted further down

http://curezone.com/forums/fm.asp?i=1391353#i

a study done in prison on this showed nearly every prisoner was cured/

Kevin trudeau (the guy on tv with that book natural cures they do not want you to know) recommended the vinegar but I would prefer the raw cabbage juice myu brother did as it never came back foir over 8 years so far.

if you are doing hew apple cider vinegar,

1 it must be raw apple cider vinegar (in glass bottles not plastic which is unhealthy to conusme

The most common brand names for raw vinegar containing the mother are braggs and spectrum. do a google search to see what the bottle looks like.

They are sold at health food stores and in the health food section of many grocery supermarkets like krogers and giant eagle.

2 take before meals 3 times a day

3 put about the width of 2 fingers in a glass then fill with water (warm or cold) sometimes you can add sea salt instead of honey.

Many people add honey (raw honey is best).

also check out this link for more advise under ulcers

http://www.kingmaker.net/DeadDoctorstxt.html#1.%20Ulcers,%20caused%20by%20stress?

in that first link on my brother, I give specific directions, you will need a juicer though

Often one can find them for under 10 dollars at thrift stores..if not, go to a big box store like meijers etc

generally taking vinegar straight is not recommended that much, but I feel the cabbage juice works as I saw it work with a relative.

Good luck

Q: Does drinking apple cider vinegar really cure acid reflux?

A: No

Q: Does any one know of apple cider vinegar being used for acid reflux?
Well I am healed, using this method

A: Yes, I heard on TV on an advertisement for the book of household cures, or something like that. And it said that if you took a teaspoon of vinegar a day it would help it significantly. Because medications for acid reflux usually stop all acids, but you need some. And the acid in the vinegar is what’ll do the trick. That’s what the show said anyway.

* This should help…

3/30/2006: Margaret from West Sussex, England writes, “I started to take apple cider vinegar and honey 2 weeks ago. 5 days ago the heartburn which i have had for about 6 years has stopped.”

3/28/2006: Gwen from East Lansing, MI writes, “My doctor put me on nexium for acid reflux control and it only made my symptoms worse. I didn’t think the lump in my throat would ever go away. I happened to see your web site and I tried the ACV treatment last night and I was actually able to sleep horizontal, instead of sitting up. I’m amazed. I did the baking soda mouth wash afterward to preserve my tooth enamel as well. This is something I will continue for the rest of my life. Over the years I have become disillusioned with traditional medicine and will continue to look for home remedies. Thank you so much for these posts.”

3/28/2006: Ann from Bmt, TX writes, “When I first had pain in my hands from arthritis I was 35. I read about ACV/honey as a drink, hot or cold, and drank it once a day. It helped, and I used it for quite a while. This was a home remedy for what used to be called rheumatism, and farmers mixed pure apple cider vinegar with mother into the mash for their cows to help them have healthy calves and easy births. There’s a popular book out that talks about ACV for reflux, and other natural cures that has good information. I’ve been drinking pure cranberry juice with spring water several times a day for a year, and after a month I had no reflux at all, and begin sleeping all night for the first time in a long time. I believe the acid in any natural pure juice is good for digestion, but the natural AVC is good for a lot of other things, balancing the ph in the system. Great web site, thanks.”

Q: Apple cider vinegar for asthma /acid reflux/allergies?
Has anyone tried this, I done it one today seems like I can catch my breath more after …I am going to keep trying it to see if it helps more :)

A: although it is always advised to see yr gp as well ,apple cider vinegar has many uses for quick inexpensive cures.ihave heard it does wonders for asthma.i use it for getting rid of post nasal drip due to pollen, used diluted 50/50 water on a cotton wool ball and apply to welts on yr skin instantly stops the itching and makes the lumps dissappear!so my advise is to stick at what yr doing if it’s helping you,it gets rid of toxins in yr body as well.

Q: how do i get of acid reflux w/out having to use apple cider vinegar?
i am 37 weeks pregnant and need too get rid of this it is very disturbing

A: they say when you have heart burn during pregnancy it’s a sign that the baby will have a lot of hair. also try,w/your doc’s permission, a thing called(Gaviscon), it is a over the counter acid reflux controller and it ain’t cheap. about $8.00 a bottle. and comes in two strength and also pill form. Congratulations on your new baby.

Q: Acid Reflux?????????????
Ok I have acid reflux I don’t get heart burn only very rarely, but I usally feel really sick to my stomack like I have to throw up. And I get this a lot so I went to the doctor and he said take the omperoxole pill and said cut down on fat food and he said I have acid reflux so for a year I did that and felt ok I still felt sick but I could live through it.

But know I can’t live thourgh it I cut out so much grees idk I alway’s feel like I have to throw up so idk wat to do, I heard like baking soda apple cider or vinger helps but Idk wat to do?

But when I’m chillin at home I’m fine but when I leave the house to go to blockbuster or movies I feel like I have to throw up but when I’m home I’m fine. But wats up with me

A: Well based on the fact that you took omperoxole and changed your diet for a whole year, the acid reflux may be coming from an infection in your stomach. I’m not talking about a stomach flu, but rather something called h-pylori. This infection causes all of the symptoms you are experiencing and the more you move around the more irritated your stomach becomes, hence the reason you feel worse when going to blockbuster.

I had this very same problem and it kept getting worse, so the doctor looked into my stomach with a camera, took some tissue samples and then had it tested. This is the only thing they can do to find it. My treatment was a round of antibiotics and prevacid.

You may also want to consider a stomach ulcer that is just not healing.

In either case, the doctor told me not to drink coffe, tea, sodas of any kind, OJ (anything acid, like oranges, lemons, etc., no spicy foods, and no fat as you already know.

Best of luck and don’t let it go for too long as it can cause a lot of damage to your stomach.

Q: Does Apple Cider Vinegar help acid reflux – and how much and how often??

A: I wouldn’t take anything for my acid reflux except Prilosec 20mg over the counter. You take it once a day. I’ve been diagnosed with GERD for 7 years, and I know how terrible it can be. Don’t mess around, but get your doctor’s input if you feel it is an ongoing problem.

Q: Ihear apples are good for acid reflux, are there a certain kind ? what other foods will help, for belching?
I hear baking soda and warm water helps, but I found this website that states 2 foods will cure acid reflux but you must pay to download the information. Does anybody know this secret? My wife has spats of uncontrolable belching and bloating and O.T.C medications dont work. Someone please help!!

A: Yes that site is a huge rip-off. Here are some foods that help: apples, almonds, soda crackers, figs, pineapple, papaya and yogurt. Some spices like ginger help too. For a complete list see this FREE website:

Q: acid reflux cure by eating apples?
I have really bad acid reflux. I am about to have my 4th prcedure to dialate my esophogus in 2 years. I have read all the advice on medications and lifestyle changes, but I was wondering if anyone heard about a remedy involving eating a slice of an apple as well as two other food types during or before a meal to cure reflux? If so, how does it work?

A: The two foods that I recommend is Black strap Molasses and Raw honey. The apple is better for night time reflux while these will work for just about all of it. What you will do is take about a tsp. of whatever one you chose. Molasses being the better because of strength and nutrition, but must be use to the taste. What the substance will do is stick to the sides of the esophagus and do two things, one is heal and the other is protect.
On the healing end, both substances have a healing property in them, and as they sit on the walls of the esophagus they will heal it. This is also helpful if you have a sore throat in the morning from refluxing.
On the protection end, both substances are high in sugar and when acid that is refluxed comes up to that the sugar will neutralize it and it will not longer be a problem at that point.

I would also look to putting Cinnamon in you diet, it has been know to help with digestion and will help you reduce the amount of acid need to brake down food, therefore causing you to reflux less.

Q: does apple cider vinegar have a possible cure for acid reflux?

A: I have a blog for different uses of Apple Cider Vinegar. You should try ACV with a dash of cayenne and cinnamon in your favorite juice.

Q: is apple cider vinegar any good for mild occasional acid reflux?
A friend told me that apple cider vinegar was good for temporary relief of mild acid reflux. Yucccchhhhhhh…..! :-p
Has anyone tried this? Does one just drink it straight out of the bottle? How much should one take as a single dose and how often? My friend also mentioned soda powder (baking or bicarbonate?)
Emgee— My bad :-( should have seen that one coming!!! rotflmao!!! back to the drawing board!
Seriously, though-anyone have any suggestions? Tony Z

A: Think logically. Acid reflux is caused by too much stomach acid and/or an insufficient stomach closure. Do you really think that vinegar (which is also an acid) would help? Baking would work since it’s a base, but it tastes horrible. By some antacids at the drug store and see a doctor, because acid reflux can lead to more serious diseases

Q: How long does the Apple Cider Vinegar with honey & water to work for acid acid reflux?
I have been diagnosed with LPR (Another kind of form of Acid Reflux) and I have been directed to take Ranitidine, so I did’nt want to use any medications in my body, so I decided to turn to a home remedy and that is Apple cider vinegar and honey. I just started as of today taking it three times a day for my LPR. People swear by it that it works and I am very desperate because sometimes I believe that I am having trouble breathing. My question is does anyone know how long does this natural remedy begins to work????

A: it has no beneficial effect in this condition ,

Q: Have any seniors heard of the apple cider vinegar cure for Acid Reflux?
This is known to be a cure all for acid reflux and also for weight
loss too. It has natural compounds that help the liver break down cortisol, insulin, and fat storing hormones. Taking 1 oz. mixed with 8 oz water 2x daily experts say, you will drop weight
within a week. And for acid reflux, you will feel immediate results. My hubby says it works for him and sees’ his tummy
going down. Worth a try, don’t you think? I couldn’t stay on the
reflux pills, so I’m going to try it now.
The results my husband has seen with
losing ten pounds also, is from just one
weeks’ use. He doesn’t mix with water
tho. He swigs down what he thinks is
the 1 oz of apple cider vinegar. Make
sure you buy none other. As this is the
one to buy for results. He bought ours at
a grocery store, rather than a health food store. He’s also drinking more
bottled water, and juices, and iced tea.
Keeping hydrated is good for you also.

A: I’m not a senior but I know this is a very good solution for stomach upset. The most important affect of vinagar is that it will ward off food poisening. A person who has had a table spoon of vinegar with some water is less likely to have food poisening from bad meat or fish. Very popular in places that eat raw fish. Fish with vinegar (instead of salt)

The pharmacudical companies don’t want us to know these simple cures for so much of what ails us. If this catches on, they’ll be charging medical prices for vinegar!

Another idea. Vinegar is good for washing your face also. It causes the blood to come to the surface of the skin and that is healthy. Just as people used vinegar for douches and for putting in laundry, vinegar is a wonderful, soothing bath and facial wash.

Keep it simple and save tons of money on cosmetics. It works just fine.
