Q: Frequent gas-like heartburns?
My mom keeps having these gas-like heartburns where she says she feels a lot of gas in her stomach. Is there any natural cure for heartburns instead of medicine? What is the best type of priscription drug that helps with heartburn?

A: I had heart burn. These are some ways I did to alleviate the suffering:

- Sleep with 2 pillows so that the head will be higher. This will let the patient sleep better without acid reflux when lying horizontally.
- I take natural alkaline product made from plants called Supergreens. Actually I took it to reduce my weight but I found it solve my acid problem.
- Avoid intake of spicy, oily and barbecued food. Avoid diary products. Avoid acidic drinks like coke, orange juice and coffee. Take plain food.
- Exercise help to reduce acid reflux

Q: Do I have heartburn or something else?
Okay so this all started about 28 hours ago….I think it started after I ate half a box of tagalong girl scout cookies…but that’s no really important….Okay so it hurts around my esophogous/chest area whenever I yell or laugh. I have that feeling when you swallow a big piece of bread whole…its hard to explain….what do you think it is? What should I do about it? I don’t want any medicines…but are there any natural cures for this? I don’t know if it’s heartburn because I never had that…..I don’t have any other symptoms, and feel fine other than the moderate pain in the esophogous area…Help please…thank you
BY THE WAY:
I am 13.5 years old
And Weigh about 95 plbs
And am about 5′1” if that matters….

A: Most 13 year olds don’t get heart burn, or hiatal hernias, or heart attacks which all have similar symptoms; however, I still wouldn’t fool around with it if it hasn’t gone away by now. Even a cookie would have dissolved by now. Talk to your mother or the school nurse – whichever is closest when you read this and check out with a doctor because even if it isn’t normal kids do die from heart conditions too. Better to be embarrased and safe than a ‘cool dude’ and dead.

Q: heartburn, acid relfux, GERD, candida?
hi thanks for reading im 13years old for 2 years now i have been feeling sick non-stop and found out that it was acid reflux/GERD for about a year. (it is defintly that so dont say otherwise!)
i have tried EVERYTHING homeopathy, normal drugs (which i dont take no more), all the natural cures like aplle cider vingear, aloe vera, apples, ginger root, cinnomin, digestive enymes, honey,,e,t,c
oh and i also made all the lifestyle changes like heigen the head of yuor bed, dont eat spicy stuf, dont lay down afta 2 hours after eating bla bla bla.
ive done it all! nohing seems too get rid of it! so i recently did this hometest for candida and the results were i had a very advanced case.
Do you think perhaps that the candida is in the way of letting anything work and maybe if i got that sorted it would be easier/or clearer up my acid reflux? also is it possible it couldve been there for two years? (it did say advanced case remember) i really hope it is so i can get my life back!

thank yhoo sooo much! (if you answered that is lol) byeee

A: You did use apple cider vinegar with mother in it, right? Because you cant just use any kind of vinegar.

How is your colon? Are you going to the bathroom every day? if you feel like it is candida (does your tongue have a white coating?) I would go ahead and take a probiotic (only one not like 3 different kind) with each meal to heal you digest your food. I would also never take honey.

Also can you send me a list of what you eat on a regular basis, especially what your eating the day of the symptoms? touitsmrs@yahoo.com

Might be something with the food so I would like to check.

Q: Heartburn caused or cured by vinegar or pickle juice?
I’ve been searching online for natural remedies for heartburn. Depending on the source, vinegar and/or pickle juice is either a cause of or a great remedy for heartburn.
Why is this? And what is your personal experience and opinion?

A: There are many causes of heartburn such as tomatoes, pickles, oranges, milk chocolate, onions, ketchup, lemons, etc. due to the acidic or citrus compounds. Cures vary. Some say milk which never worked for me. I drink a cold soda as I found the carbon and carmel coloring neutralizes the acids relieving my heartburn. I’ve heard breathing into a brown bag works for my brother, not me.

Q: how do i cure heartburn without medicine?
yeah im 31 weeks pregnant and i was wondering if anybody knew any home remedies for heeartburn no medication or anything something natural i dont take tums or anything like that okay im wanting answers for all natural home remedies

A: There are many options for managing your heartburn without medicine.

When pregnant you should absolutely avoid any antacids as they usually contain aluminium hydroxide which results in diarrhea and eventually neuro toxic effects of the brain and nervous system – bad for you and your baby.

A few other recommendations for preventing and treating heartburn are:

1. Don’t over eat

2. Each day drink a glass of fresh celery or cabbage juice.

3. While having your meal sip 1 tablespoon of raw apple cider vinegar mixed with a glass of water. This should be the only liquid you have with your meal.

4. Juice up a raw potato (including the skin) – mix the juice with an equal measure of water. The juice should be drunk immediately after preparing it and for best results should be taken 3 times a day.

5. Have smaller meals on a more regular basis and include as many fresh and raw vegetables as possible.

6. Fresh pineapple and papaya are well known fruits that can aid in digestion.

7. Uphold a regular gentle exercise routine, while avoiding weight lifting and running. For best results in managing your heartburn it is best to exercise before eating.

8. Avoid processed foods, caffeine products, carbonated drinks, fried foods, fats and sugars. Healthy raw fruit and vegetables are your best friend when it comes to avoiding heartburn.

9. Maintain a peaceful lifestyle, while avoiding stress and anger when ever possible.

10. Gingerroot is also worth trying as it has been shown to be very effective with managing heartburn.

11. Raise the head of your bed by 4-6 inches

12. Ensure that you eat at least 2-3 hours before lying down

13. Avoid tight clothing

Hope these natural heartburn relief tips help in some way.

Q: Acid Indigestion?
Is there any natural cures for acid indigestion or heartburn ? Please list all that you know of thanks

A: A tablespoon of vinegar. Doesnt taste great but really works. There is also baking soda. Mix about a teaspoon in glass of water. Sorry these remedies taste bad but they work. Also, for a nicer flavor, drink peppermint or lemon balm tea.

Q: GERD/Heartburn cure from Lagadyn?
Hi!

I’ve suffered for a while now with GERD which I think has led to mild esophagitis. Mostly now it’s just heartburn issues and pain when swallowing. I’m not a fan of the usual antacid and PPI regimens and I’ve been hoping to find a natural remedy that works.

So, I found this doctor’s website, William Lagadyn, who says he’s found the cure of all cures for heartburn. It’s hard to trust a website that only has nothing but glowing reviews of miraculous results, and frankly I’m just skeptical.

Has anybody tried Lagadyn’s cure? Can anybody give feedback on whether or not it was worth it to spend the twenty bucks on it? I mean, 20 bucks is nothing compared to getting rid of heartburn, and it’s nothing really just to buy the book anyway and give it a shot, but I was just hoping to hear from anyone who has actually tried his “cure”.

Also, any feedback or help with GERD/Heartburn would be great too! This left side throat pain when swallowing is getting pretty annoying.

Thanks!

A: I think it was Dr. Dean Edell on radio who recently suggested the ‘pain in the throat’ (swallowing, sounds same) may be serious and indicates real medical attention is recommended.

Good luck.

Q: Really bad acid reflux. How can I treat it?
So, the heartburn is so bad that it lasts most of the day, every day. I’ve been on Nexium for a while. It works, for the most part, but the side effects of diarrhea and abdominal cramps are problems. I tried pepcid, since that doesn’t have those side effects, but it doesn’t work as well. It keeps the heartburn at bay for perhaps half a day, and I end up having to take two pills when I’m only supposed to take one. And sometimes it just fails to work.
So I’ve started dabbling into the natural cures. Milk has always helped, but it’s very temporary. A friend suggested I take Apple Cider Vinegar pills. I did some research on those and found that it could make heartburn even worse. I tried it anyway. At first I took only one pill once a day instead of the labeled dose of two pills twice a day. It didn’t help or make things worse. So I took the normal dose, and it made the heartburn a little worse. Either way it didn’t work. Is there anything else I can try? Something that works as well as Nexium, but doesn’t have those GI side effects?
Actually the Nexium worked in one day. If it didn’t have those side effects I wouldn’t mind taking it still.

So just normal vinegar? And I need it to work within a day or so because it doesn’t go away. I might get an hour or so a day of relief, but it’s very painful and lasts throughout the entire day. I can’t wait a few days or more.
I haven’t been taking any teas. I can’t stand to. It tastes like dirt and twigs. I did take St. John’s Wort and Echinacea for a while, but I stopped taking those almost a month ago. The only other things I take are Claritin for my allergies, One Daily Women’s, a Vitamin C supplement, and Culterelle because it helps my IBS.
I haven’t seen a food allergist. Where could I find one?

A: Have you seen a food allergist? You may be eating something that’s stimulating overproduction of acid. (Certain herbs do that – if you’ve been using any herbal “digestive tea” to aid with indigestion, stop that at once – those usually work by stimulating stomach acid.)

Q: is there any herb tea or something like that for acid reflux?
I have acid reflux and I’m taking medicine though i’d like to know if there is any herbal tea or natural remedy to cure it or releive the symptoms…i don’t get a strong heartburn, tho i get an annoying sensation in my throat
thanks for help

A: There are no ‘natural cures’ that are of any real use at all. Non- pharmacological measures which help include, being no more than your ideal weight, eating small meals, elevating the foot of the bed and not eating late at night. Otherwise it is long term use of PPI drugs or occasionally surgery.

Q: What natural medicine, worked for you, to relive Hypertension?
I am currently taking Toperal. It is causing major side effects (sleeplessness, heartburn, fuzziness).

I want an Herbal cure. I take my BP every night. My average is 145/80. Before Toperal it was really bad (170/90).

I am in good shape physically. I walk about 5 miles a day.
I’m having major issues with trusting my health to those whom have a versted interest in me being sick. Those who have such an interest are doctors.

A: I use Aqua-Rite for my high BP condition. I slowly decreased my medication while I started to take this natural product and in less than 3 months I was able to use only the natural product. I highly recommend it. Check the following source :

Q: is there a nutural remedy for curing heartburn?
i am an alchaholic but not a binge drinker it eases my anxiety and i will continue to drink but i have the worst heart burn all the time i take zantac twice a day and that relieves it i am a very natural person and am searching for an alternative please help
p.s. i really dont think it is the alchohol because it started when i took prilosec for too long no one told me otherwise and i only had hunger pains which i was told was an ulser after starting on prilosec i had a hard time getting off it the worst ever imaginable burning i had never even close to experienced before what should i do?!

A: a teaspoon of vinegar for the heartburn, for the alcoholism I would go to www.execucarearc.com to learn more about neurotransmitter restoration

Q: UTI treatment?
I have a UTI. I don’t have health insurance. I’m beating the damn thing down with water and cranberry juice (yuck, and give me heartburn btw.) I’m looking for suggestions for cures. A natural medicines expert told me that if I mixed a cup of plain yoghurt with two Tbs of apple cider vinegar int he morning and chugged it, provided it was early in the process of infection, that I would be infallibly cured. The suggestion makes me dry heave just thinking about it.

Suggestions?

A: Many women have recurrent UTIs even after taking anti-biotics. I am one of them, but I learned to control it with simple diet changes and some other stuff. Here is the list:
1. Drink lots of water
2. Do not have sex when your bladder is full- empty it first and then proceed (this usually happens in the morning)
3. Don’t sit on very cold things for too long

If you have a UTI right now, here is what you should do to make it go away ASAP:
BEST: Urosept — you can get this form your pharmacy without prescription. It is a blue pill, just take it every 4 hours until it goes away but it usually goes away after the first pill within 2 hours.
Drink lots and lots and lots of water and/or Chamomile tea— you need to cleanse your body of the bacteria.

Q: Is any of this true about how good bananas are??
Never, put your banana in the refrigerator!!!
This is interesting.
After reading this, you’ll never look at a banana in the same way again.

Bananas contain three natural sugars – sucrose, fructose and glucose combined with fiber. A banana gives an instant, sustained and substantial boost of energy.
Research has proven that just two bananas provide enough energy for a strenuous 90-minute workout. No wonder the banana is the number one fruit with the world’s leading athletes.
But energy isn’t the only way a banana can help us keep fit.
It can also help overcome or prevent a substantial number of illnesses and conditions, making it a must to add to our daily diet.

Depression: According to a recent survey undertaken by MIND amongst people suffering from depression, many felt much better after eating a banana. This is because bananas contain tryptophan, a type of protein that the body converts into serotonin, known to make you relax, improve your mood and generally make you feel happier.
PMS: Forget the pills – eat a banana. The vitamin B6 it contains regulates blood glucose levels, which can affect your mood.

Anemia: High in iron, bananas can stimulate the production of hemoglobin in the blood and so helps in cases of anemia.
Blood Pressure: This unique tropical fruit is extremely high in potassium yet low in salt, making it perfect to beat blood pressure. So much so, the US Food and Drug Administration has just allowed the banana industry to make official claims for the fruit’s ability to reduce the risk of blood pressure and stroke.

Brain Power: 200 students at a Twickenham (Middlesex) school were helped through their exams this year by eating bananas at breakfast, break, and lunch in a bid to boost their brain power. Research has shown that the potassium-packed fruit can assist learning by making pupils more alert.
Constipation: High in fiber, including bananas in the diet can help restore normal bowel action, helping to overcome the problem without resorting to laxatives.
Hangovers: One of the quickest
ways of curing a hangover is to make a banana milkshake, sweetened with honey. The banana calms the stomach and, with the help of the honey, builds up depleted blood sugar levels, while the milk soothes and re-hydrates your system.
Heartburn: Bananas have a natural antacid effect in the body, so if you suffer from heartburn, try eating a banana for soothing relief.

Morning Sickness: Snacking on bananas between meals helps to keep blood sugar levels up and avoid morning sickness.
Mosquito bites: Before reaching for the insect bite cream, try rubbing the affected area with the inside of a banana skin. Many people find it amazingly successful at reducing swelling and irritation.
Nerves: Bananas are high in B vitamins that help calm the nervous system.

Overweight and at work? Studies at the Institute of Psychology in Austria found pressure at wor k leads to gorging on comfort food like chocolate and crisps. Looking at 5,000 hospital patients, researchers found the most obese were more likely to be in high-pressure jobs. The report concluded that, to avoid panic-induced food cravings, we need to control our blood sugar levels by snacking on high carbohydrate foods every two hours to keep levels steady.
Ulcers: The banana is used as the dietary food against intestinal disorders because of its soft texture and smoothness. It is the only raw fruit that can be eaten without distress in over-chronicler cases. It also neutralizes over-acidity and reduces irritation by coating the lining of the stomach.
Temperature control: Many other cultures see bananas as a “cooling” fruit that can lower both the physical and emotional temperature of expectant mothers. In Thailand , for example, pregnant women eat bananas to ensure their baby is born with a cool temperature.

Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD): Bananas can help SAD sufferers because they contain the natural mood enhancer tryptophan.
Smoking &Tobacco Use: Bananas can also help people trying to give up smoking. The B6, B12 they contain, as well as the potassium and magnesium found in them, help the body recover from the effects of nicotine withdrawal.
Stress: Potassium is a vital mineral, which helps normalize the heartbeat, sends oxygen to the brain and regulates your body’s water balance. When we are stressed, our metabolic rate rises, thereby reducing our potassium levels. These can be rebalanced with the help of a high-potassium banana snack.
Strokes: According to research in The New England Journal of Medicine, eating bananas as part of a regular diet can cut the risk of death by strokes by as much as 40%!
Warts: Those keen on natural alternatives swear that if you want to kill off a wart, take a piece of banana skin and place it on the wart, with the yellow side out. Carefully hold the skin in place with a plaster or surgical tape!

So, a banana really is a natural remedy for many ills. When you compare it to an apple, it has four times the protein, twice the carbohydrate, three times the phosphorus, five times the vitamin A and iron, and twice the other vitamins and minerals. It is also rich in potassium and is one of the best value foods around So maybe its time to change that well-known phrase so that we say, “A banana a day keeps the doctor away!”

Q: would you take this action?
Finally– Legislation to Protect Your Right to Know About the Science Behind Supplements!
March 23, 2010 Print This Post Take Action Today. Help Us Gain Cosponsors for the Free Speech About Science Act, H.R. 4913!

Consumers are largely kept in the dark about the potential health benefits of foods and supplements. Why? Because current law makes it illegal for food and supplement producers to share this information.

Today Congressmen Jason Chaffetz (R, UT) and Jared Polis (D, CO) have introduced the Free Speech about Science Act (H.R. 4913). This landmark legislation protects basic free speech rights, ends censorship of science, and enables the natural health products community to share peer-reviewed scientific findings about natural health products with the public.

ANH-USA has been working toward the introduction of this bill for several years. Now that it is finally here, we need your help to gain cosponsors and support.

At first sight, this might not appear to be a blockbuster bill. But look closely. If it passes, Free Speech about Science has the potential to transform the healthcare field by educating the public about the real science behind natural health. This is a small bill with vast potential leverage.

For this very reason, the bill will have opposition. It will be opposed by the FDA for reasons we will explain. It will be opposed by drug companies fearing competition from natural health approaches based on diet, dietary supplements, and lifestyle. Please do not let these special interests stop this bill. Please contact your representative today. Ask him or her to cosponsor this vital legislation. Take action now.

We all know that consumers are looking for reliable information backed by legitimate scientific research in order to make informed choices about diet and health. Access to this information is essential if we are to know which foods and food supplements really are healthy and contribute to good health.

The FDA mission statement says that the agency is charged with helping educate the public about health. The Agency mostly ignores this mission and seems intent only on keeping even valid science under wraps.

Drug companies are of course entirely free to flood the airwaves and print media with ads. As has been well established, the FDA does very little monitoring of these ads. In some cases, drug ads are highly misleading. For example, if you listen closely to a drug ad for antacids, you will see that they give an impression the drugs will cure heartburn but do not actually claim to do so (because the drugs do not cure it and may actually make it worse).

In sharp contrast to the treatment of drug companies, current FDA regulations flatly forbid food and supplement manufacturers from mentioning any link between a product and a health condition, even if the link is established by peer reviewed scientific studies coming out of Harvard and other highly respected universities. Any producer that fails to comply with this censorship regime will have its product declared an unapproved drug. Selling an unapproved drug in turn will lead to fines and even jail.

The FDA has issued many warning letters to various food producers to keep them from telling consumers truthfully about the healthful nature of their products. For example, cherry growers have been targeted and enjoined from referencing peer-reviewed scientific articles showing cherries’ health benefits for gout and arthritis.

For years, the FDA barred health claims about the benefits of fish oil for heart, cancer, depression, body pain, and various other conditions until a drug company paid to go through the approval process. Not surprisingly, the FDA approved version of fish oil (the only kind that can be reimbursed by Medicare and Medicaid and the VA) costs as much as ten times more than otherwise available, high quality fish oil.

In the FDA’s view, even providing a link on a website to a scientific study converts a healthy fruit or nut into an unapproved drug, a bizarre result that effectively denies Americans scientific information that could alleviate their illnesses or even save their lives.

If the FDA insists that even cherries must be brought through the full drug review process in order to make any health condition claim, why not just go along? The problem is that FDA approval easily costs a billion dollars! Drug companies can only pay these vast sums because they have patent protection and will use that patent protection to create a monopoly on the sale of the product. Result? $100 per pill in some cases.

Natural products cannot usually be patented and therefore cannot usually be brought through such an expensive approval process. The FDA knows this, but ignores it. It willfully excludes most natural substances from medicine.

Who does the FDA expect to pay the billion dollar cost of approval for cherries? The cherry growers? And don’t forget: the cherry growers cannot combine efforts to d

A: You’ve hit one of the nails on the head. You are talking about products that usually cannot be patented. If it cannot be patented, then who is going to pay for the FDA approval – massive cost. The answer is no one if they do not believe they can recover the cost via exclusivity on supply and sales.

It goes beyond supplements and foods. It extends to all health environs outside modern medicine.

The Alt Med skeptics try to tell you that Alt Med is big business – multi-million dollar industry. Which is a lovely comparison to pharmaceuticals – a multi-trillion dollar industry. (For those who have difficulty with numbers, that’s 1 million times 1 million.) Yep, if I’m going to make the big bucks, I’m going to choose Alt Med!

Reading so much of what is said on YA, it appears that this is worse in the US than here in Australia. However, our Government (doesn’t matter which party, they are all the same) keep copying the policies of the US, so it may not be long for us.
