Q: What causes constant heartburn and can lead to choking and vomiting in your sleep?
A: upper GI disorders such as Gastroesophegeal Reflux Disease(GERD) or a hiatal Hernia, ulcers, etc… Get to a doctor for care if you are not responding to over the counter acid reducers such as tums or zantac.
Q: What causes excess heartburn in pregnancy?
I didn’t have any heartburn when I was preg with my son, and he was born with a headful of thick hair!
I have alot of heartburn this time around, so we’ll see…
A: Heartburn (also called acid indigestion or acid reflux) is a burning sensation that often extends from the bottom of the breastbone to the lower throat. It’s caused by some of the hormonal and physical changes in your body.
During pregnancy, the placenta produces the hormone progesterone, which relaxes the smooth muscles of the uterus. This hormone also relaxes the valve that separates the esophagus from the stomach, allowing gastric acids to seep back up, which causes that unpleasant burning sensation.
Q: What is it that causes heartburn?
Just wondering because i get it alot
A: Excess gas and or acid.
Eat less acidic food, or food that causes gas.
Also, drink more water to make your stomach acid less potent (diluted).
Q: what actually causes heartburn?
is it the food i eat???
or can stress cause it????
A: Actually, it is caused by my boss standing behind me saying,
“Is it fixed yet? Now is it fixed? Can I start running it now? How long until it is fixed? What is taking you so long to fix it? Do you know what you are doing? Should I call someone who can fix it? Is it fixed yet?
g-day!
Q: what are the causes of heartburn?
what are all of the causes of heartburn?
A: The main cause is too much acidity from acidic foods such as meat, poultry, sea food, dairy products and eggs. Spicy foods and too much fat don’t help either.
An alkaline diet is a good remedy for heartburn.
Q: Heartburn relief is what causes my heartburn, Help!!!?
I was looking online at a lot of heartburn relief remedies that people can make at home and I noticed so many of the foods that are supposed to help, such as banana’s are what actually causes my instant heartburn. When I say instant I mean it literally. Take banana’s . As soon as I start to swallow a bite of one it’s heartburn city right away. Why do you think this is?? I know I should go to a gastroenterologist , which in time I will . But at the moment the thought of a tube with a camera going down my throat and into my stomach isnt exactly my idea of a good time. Any ideas on why banana’s are giving me such horrible acid reflux??
Dairy gives me heartburn too guys, which is why I try to avoid the stuff.
A: Try taking a tonic of apple cider vinegar (two teaspoons in an 8 ounce glass of water) before meals along with some of the dietary and lifestyle changes mentioned in the reference below as an all natural way to alleviate occasional heartburn symptoms or as a preventative practice.
Q: What are some foods that won’t cause heartburn while pregnant?
I am getting horrible heartburn to the point that I must stay upright while sleeping and I feel like EVERYTHING I eat I get heartburn–I must admit, I have been abit of a junk food addict lately but I have since changed my ways–I have sworn off any sugary food (except for friday’s) anyways does anyone have any suggegstions or a link to a list of foods that will not contribute to my heartburn problems?
Thanks so much!
A: Anything that is acidic will contribute to your heartburn. You can help ease the heartburn by eating smaller, more frequent meals so that your stomach doesn’t get so full. In pregnancy as your uterus pushes up under your ribcage your stomach gets squashed up higher and some of its contents can back up into your esophagus.
You still probably will get heartburn a bit until the end of your pregnancy but you can lessen it by not eating acidic foods (citrus, tomatoes, spicy foods, etc.).
Q: What causes heartburn?? I know I haven’t been eating well lately but I’ve never had it till yesterday.
A: The main cause of heartburn is not always something you ate.
It can be the result of what is commonly known as GERD which stands for gastroesophageal reflux disease. This is a condition whereby acids in the stomach cause food you have eaten to partially back up into your esophagus (throat). When this happens, heartburn is most often the result.
You may not necessarily have this problem since you say you’ve only had heartburn once and recently. It is possible you ate something you’ve never eaten before and often times, it can be the result of of emotional distress as well, or at least, if we are feeling upset for some reason, this will not help. Some people, when upset, may either eat more or less. Neither is good and therefore both can cause the reflux of acids.
I’ve been dealing with this problem for quite a while. Sometimes I will have heartburn as it is most commonly called – even though it has nothing to do with the human heart itself. I can go for days having heartburn and then it just disappears for several more days.
At first, I just took an antacid tablet – I prefer Rolaids Tropical Fruit (pink in colour) because I just don’t like peppermint or spearmint which are common flavours of antacid tablets.
Several months ago, I finally had to take a prescription medication called Pantaloc. There are several medications that can be prescribed but unless your problem becomes frequent or worse than the episode you already had, I advise just trying an over-the-counter remedy. You can also take an antacid in liquid form. Just check with a pharmacist and ask what he/she thinks is best for you.
You say you haven’t eaten well lately and this may be the only reason why you had one episode. I advise that you try to regulate your diet and stay away from spicy foods and dairy products for a little while to see if this improves your situation. Believe it or not, drinking milk does not solve the problem even though it was believed for many years, this was the answer to heartburn.
I hope you will try a few different things on the basis of over-the-counter remedies first and see what happens. If you improve your diet and take an antacid when necessary but the problem occurs more often or episodes of heartburn seem to worsen, then see a doctor. You should rule out having a gastric ulcer for which you may require prescription medication.
Q: what causes heartburn and why?
A: Acid indigestion and esophageal reflux.
Only there is a serious one (I have put the link).
Q: What is a good alcoholic beverage for my husband to drink that won’t give him heartburn?
Lately he has gotten heartburn from vodka-7, and Mickeys beer. Whats a good kind of beer or mixed drink that is easy to digest and doesn’t cause heartburn?
A: Sadly, it’s the alcohol that gives him heartburn, and not the other ingredients. So either he has to put up with it and take a Tums or some sh*t.
Q: What does it mean when you get heartburn after eating apples?
Why would apples cause heartburn?
Oh thank you. But what’s the turns?
Oh my bad. Thanks Sara
A: Apples (and apple juice) are highly acidic. You’re adding more acid to your stomach and it can’t handle it so some of it refluxes back up into your esophagus and you get heartburn. Either eat fewer apples or keep the Tums handy.
Q: What is the best way to reduce heartburn, and what cause heartburn?
I’m 30, not smoking, drink very little, and took lots of diff. med. but still no help! People said bcuz’ stress.
A: acid reflux, pregnancy and ulcers all cause heartburn. Occational heart burn may be caused by eating too fast. If this is the case, take smaller bites and chew your food throughly. Also, drinking milk or chocolate milk helps to releive the pain.
Q: What are the worst foods to cause heartburn / indigestion?
I think I may be suffering from the above. Have chest pain, top right and left side, goes in to my back. What foods are the worst to avoid and does anybody have any good advice of what to eat to stop it happeing?
A: Once a doctor told me not to eat meat at a huge amount at a time because it takes time to digest n causes heartburn. Also take note: tea, coffee, sodas, vinegar, sour food, bamboo shoots, yam, pineapple are dangerous to take if u suffer from heartburn/indigestion. Eat more spinach. Tackle stress n dont worry too much.
Q: What could cause heartburn in the mornings?
I get this feeling of acid coming up….but it’s only in the mornings. It can’t be from food from breakfast because I generally don’t eat in the mornings. Any ideas?
It’s not every morning. It just seems to only be in the morning when it does happen.
A: It is probably from food you ate the night before. It used to happen to me when I snacked late before I went to bed. I have stopped this and no more acid-reflux in the morning for me. It also has alot to do with the type of food you eat.
Q: What causes a Heartburn and a Hitatal Herna?
These are health questions.. kindly need help.. please do help.. thanks adios…
A: Desi_Fly, Both heartburn and a hiatal hernia are related. At the lower end of the esophagus, where it ends to start the upper stomach, the esophagus is surrounded by muscle tissue of the diaphragm. This is called the esophago-gastric junction. When food is in the stomach, this muscle contracts and prevents food and strongly acid stomach juices from flowing back (up) into the esophagus. When the muscle is weak or incompetent in failing to close when the stomach squeezes food, the very acid stomach contents flow up a bit into the esophagus and produce heartburn. Left untreated, over time, the lower part of the esophagus will be inflamed and damaged and more.
