Q: Are Burger King and Taco Bell owned by the same company? Quick 10 points!?
What company’s or cooperation’s own each brand? Are any connected? This is for my nutritional health class, so if you could give me some websites, I would greatly appreciate it! Thanks! :)

A: Burger King is an independant company. Taco Bell, KFC, Pizza Hut, and Long John Silvers are all owned by the same people. It’s a company called Yum! Corporation.

Q: Is Burger King “trans-fat free” if it’s still in their mayonnaise?
Looking at BK’s new “nutritional information” dated April 2009 it looks like they still use trans-fat in their mayo. Should they be able to claim that they’re trans-fat free?

http://www.bk.com/Nutrition/PDFs/NutritionalBrochure.pdf

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/26994314/

A: I wouldnt buy it. Fast food is gross no matter what.
mayonaisse is made of eggs and vinnegar and oil
i dont think their mayo is healthy even if it was trans free

Q: Why won’t Quizno’s Subs post nutrition information online about their entire menu (like Burger King does) ?
A great majority of fast food chains post their entire menu’s nutritional information online, no matter if their food is healthy or not. Quizno’s only posts their info for their 2 ‘Lite’ sandwiches. What about their salads or chili ???

A: They don’t want you to know that you will have a heart attack from eating their food.

Q: Nutritional Info?
I was wonder what the nutritional facts for a Burger King Sausage Crossiant with no egg and a Large Ice Tea was!! Thanks

A: www.calorieking.com is a great place to find LOTS of different fast-food and even grocery items.

Q: What have been the most significant changes in the fast food industry over the last 10 years here in the UK?
I am doing a presentation on this at the weekend and need some info to benchmark the main players such as McDonalds, Burger King, KFC, etc. I am looking at nutritional value, quality of product, packaging changes and healthy options.

A: I suggest you ring the appropriate Head Offices of each and they will send you fact sheets or emails. Each will be heavily biased of course but there won’t be anything untruthful.

Q: Canadian v. US Nutritional Info?
I noticed that either on the nutritional info on the websites of restaurants (McDonalds, Burger King, Baskin Robbins, etc etc) and on products (like Philadelphia Cream Cheese and yogurt and cereals), the nutritional information is ALWAYS less calories and healthier on the Canadian packaging and its always more calories and sodium and stuff on US packaging…why is that? Is there a good reason?

A: Many more laws in what and how food can be made and produced in other countries. US has lotta bad things in the food we eat. In One state so far they have outlawed the use of a type of oil that is very veyr fatty. first step, but we should do it in all states

Q: No wonder Americans are so damn fat and are dieing young?
I just checked the nutritional value in a sausage egg and cheese biscuit at Burger King. It contains 1501 of sodium. The limit is between 1500 to 2400 grams of sodium per day for male and female. And I pretty sure lots of people get two of those biscuits. Might as well change the name to Heart Attack or Stork biscuit. What the hell is wrong with this country ? Why don’t they ban fast food joints ?

A: Let me break it down for you. (NOW THIS IS ALL MY OPINION NO FACTS WHAT SO EVER)

Fast food restaurants cause people to become over weight which causes underlying health problems.

They health problems are helped by the pharacutical companies that make thousands of drugs for obesity, High blood pressure and so on.

All these drugs are taxed by the government. So the government makes money off people eating at fast food restaurants and getting fat. And that is why they will never, thats right NEVER be out lawed.

Q: Why the heck is a Sierra Turkey Sandwich from Panera bread unhealthier than a double whopper from Burker King?
Im completely dumbfounded. Everytime I chose to hit panera bread over a Mcdonalds or Burker King I thought I was making the right, healthy decision.

I thought the sierra turkey signature sandwich was a healthy choice. Turkey, lettuce, slice of cheese, light sauce, on specialty bread. How can you go wrong, right? Its not a fat greasy burger with 3 slices of cheese, pickles, mayo, and hamburger bun.

Yeah, then I looked up the nutritional facts and the Sierra Turkey is 970 calories with 45 (g) of FAT.

Thats worst than Burger Kings : Double Whopper and Mcdonalds: Double Quarter pounder w/cheese (worst on menu)

Do not be fooled by Panera Bread! I dont understand it though. Its Turkey and Lettuce!!

A: The sierra turkey is on cheese bread. White bread infused and topped with high fat cheese. It is then spread with chipotle mayo on both sides! That’s why it is high fat.

Get something else like a turkey on sourdough with low fat mayo, or a strawberry poppyseed and chicken salad.

Matt- you are thinking of the bacon turkey bravo not the sierra.

Q: what caterers would be suitable for a special school in london, desperate for nutrition?
we are currently suffering with scolarist, with soggy overcooked veg, procesed chicken and generally poor quality, bad tasting food – with little regard for the cultural make up of our diverse students. As all of our students are physically disabled and are often in and out of hospital thus their diet is even more important. The deserts are all fat and suger and have little or no nutritional value, food dye is common place with pizzas staining plates and very sorry sausages. our contract with the burger king company is up shortly and i would desperatley like an alternative. Cost is an issue with money having to come from somewhere, but the present situation has shown many broken promises and declining standards. i would like any suggestions, we have an onsite kitchin and about 90 children with varius needs, the staff would also eat if the food was good adding another 30-60 covers per day.
are their specialist caterers? are our numbers sufficient?
could we go inhouse? is there hope?

A: Due to Jamie Oliver’s School Dinners TV series, Scolarest is supposedly changing. You might want to check the rival company, Harrison catering but the chances are that its pretty much the same. The only hope is that all the exposure will cause changes. See if you can talk to *Initial Catering. If they can’t help you, they may be able to give you a recommendation.

If you decide to go inhouse, this article may help you:

http://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/actionnetwork/A3584432

If you have connections with one of the hospitals that your children frequent, possibly they could give you some advice.

What it all comes down to is money. You might have to do fundraisers to be able to make up the costs, or independently find suppliers different than what your caterer uses.

Q: Can someone tell me interesting patterns, irregularities, little known facts and statistics about fast food? ?
It can be anything from mcdonalds, burger king, wendys, kfc, popeyes. I just can’t seem to find something that most people already know. I heard that a salad at mcdonalds with dressing has more calories than a big mac. That is something surprising. I need something surprising or little knowned. Please if possible provide links as to where you got the information. The sources has to be reputable. Also if possible show me links to some sites that does comparison between fast food restaurants. Nutritional sites etc.

A: A girl did a science fair test and found that mcdonalds ice cubes were dirtier than toilet water.

Q: will some one proof read this please!?
Its know that neither McDonald’s nor burger King is the healthiest option if you are tying to keep a healthy life style, however, do you really know which fast food may be just a little bit better for you? What’s the first thing you think of when someone says McDonald’s or Burger King? Probably their famous sandwiches the Big Mac and the Whopper because they are what make the brands. There are two factors to look at here taste and health. In this paper we will take a look at the nutritional value of some of the items that you will find listed on the ever so famous menus at these locations all over the world. This may help you choose what your next best fast food stop should be.
First off, one of the biggest items on both menus is the famous French fries, when ordering burger kings French fries you are getting a intake of 400 calories as to McDonalds you are getting 380 calories. As you see both options are very close on the calorie base but its shown that burger kings French fries have a lot more protein with a high source of calories, as to McDonalds would probably be the best bet for you to take.
Secondly, between the McDonalds big Mac and burger kings’ whopper, the big Mac has on 540 calories as to burger kings whopper has 670 calories. Studies show that burger king has way more healthy condiments thus, placing

Lettuce, pickle and onion on all burgers as too McDonalds only places cheese and onions and pickles on some.
This clearly shows that McDonalds comes out on top once again with the low calorie big Mac. Lastly, we will be looking at McDonalds chicken selects and Burger kings chicken fries. Now, both are very close in calories but coming out on top with 380 calories is Mc Donald’s chicken selects. Burger king has 260 calories in the chicken fries which leads us to believe that Burger king’s chicken fries are a little better for you.
In all Mc Donald’s is shown to be just a little more healthier, as you can see it’s really just depends on the serving portion you decided to get. Fast food is widely known to be the worst food out there but if chosen correctly you might just find your self eating a littler healthier if you take that extra moment to closely examine your food choices.

Q: FRENCH FRIES-YAHOO articles and all info–who is best in your opinion?
The Best (and Worst) Fast-Food French Fries
Posted Mon, Jan 19, 2009, 12:18 pm PST
POST A COMMENT »
Worrying about calories seems silly after you’ve consented to a French fry grease-fest, but sometimes you can’t help it. During one such conflicted experience, I wondered if some fast-food fries were less hard on the body than others. Looking at the nutritional facts of some common French fry purveyors, I found that you can, indeed, save some serious calories if you know which fries to buy.

I looked at these seven:
-Arby’s Curly Fries
-Burger King’s French Fries
-Carl’s Jr.’s Natural-Cut Fries
-Dairy Queen’s French Fries
-Jack in the Box’s Natural Cut Fries
-McDonald’s French Fries
-Wendy’s French Fries

Notes: The numbers below are estimated reports by each restaurant’s official website at the time of this article.

Calorie-wise:

The Best
Dairy Queen wins with 2.69 calories/gram
Jack in the Box is close behind with 2.71 calories/gram

The Worst
McDonald’s it is, with 3.25 calories/gram

Those stats may sound like just a few calories’ difference, but that’s a 21% difference, which adds up since a large serving tends to be around 190 grams.

But there are other stats to look at…

Here’s the zero trans fat team:
Burger King
Carl’s Jr.
Dairy Queen
McDonald’s
Wendy’s

This one is the trans fattiest:
Jack in the Box

How about saturated fat?

The Best
Dairy Queen (0.018g saturated fat/gram of fries)

The Worst
Arby’s (0.037g saturated fat/gram of fries)

Also remember that a good deal in dollars, doesn’t translate to your diet, and a “large fries” means something different to everyone:

Large Fries Serving Sizes
McDonald’s: 154g
Carl’s Jr.: 184g
Wendy’s: 184g
Dairy Queen: 186g
Arby’s: 190g
Burger King: 194g
Jack in the Box: 236g

A: I like Burger King’s fries because they fry them separately from everything else… thus those of us who must avoid wheat and gluten can eat them. :-)

Q: Calorie Counts?
Hi There,

I’ve been eating a lot at Lee’s Sandwhiches, the ideal of cheap and fast, is awesome. But I’m having a hard time finding a website that has the Nutritional value and/or Calorie counts to their sandwiches!

I think I’m doing better because I’m not eating McDonalds, Burger King, etc… but who knows, I could be eating just as bad.

Does anyone know where I can find this information. I’ve searched for it everywhere on the internet!

A: ask them if they have the nutrional information then you can enter it on myfitnesspal.com and track your results there

Q: can u help me add a few sentences to my paper? i dont know what else to write…?
i need like 5 more sentences. can u help me, and tell me where to add tehm. it doesnt ahve to be factual, it could e oppinionated or a generalization, whatever works. here my paper:

High-Fructose Corn Syrup Not That Sweet

The production of high-fructose corn syrup has many negative effects on the body, and on the environment. High-fructose corn syrup was introduced into the food market in the late 1970’s, as an effort to save money (Hand). Although high-fructose corn syrup extends the shelf life of processed foods, and is much cheaper than other, natural sweeteners, it isn’t worth including it in people’s diets when there are other alternatives (Zeratsky). Natural sweeteners are healthier, and they are eco-friendly, unlike HFCS. The production of high-fructose corn syrup should be banned, because much more than our health is at stake.
High-fructose corn syrup is very unhealthy. It leads to many things, such as diabetes, and obesity. HFCS is much worse for you than natural sweeteners are. Yet, most people take in more high-fructose corn syrup than any other sweetener. The average person takes in seventy-eight pounds of high-fructose corn syrup per year; this is extremely unhealthy (Hopkins). When HFCS is digested, it foes directly to the liver, which releases enzymes that make the body store fat. This makes triglyceride and cholesterol levels rise. HFCS causes weight gain, because it slows down the fat-burning process. Also, it doesn’t stimulate insulin production. This usually allows a person to feel full, however, since it is not stimulated, it often causes people to overeat. Almost all products made with high-fructose corn syrup are high in calories, and low in nutritional value (Zeratsky). These foods cause people to become diabetic, which in turn, cause conditions like type two diabetes, high blood pressure, and coronary artery disease (Zeratsky). Also, almost half of commercial high-fructose corn syrup contains mercury. This is just one more reason why you shouldn’t consume products that contain HFCS.
High-fructose corn syrup also has a terrible effect on the environment. When land is used solely for growing corn, it depletes soil nutrients, requiring more pesticides and fertilizers while weakening topsoil (Hartman). High-fructose corn syrup has created major problems in the Gulf of Mexico. There is an area, called the dead-zone, where virtually nothing will live because it has been starved of oxygen by the fertilizer runoff coming down the Mississippi River from the corn belt (Hartman). The production of high-fructose corn syrup is extremely hazardous to our planet, and should be banned, before it is too late.
High-fructose corn syrup is in more foods than you would expect it to be.
It’s in soda, ketchup, fruit drinks, beer, salad dressings, cereals, breads, flavored yogurt, sauces, and tons of other things (Hand). It is also in almost all fast food restaurants’ food. Just at Burger King, it is in everything from soda, to ketchup, and from breakfast syrup to tarter sauce (Kuhl). It’s even in things we think are healthy, like Burger King’s Sesame Seed Buns, and their Mott’s Applesauce (Kuhl). If you want to be healthier, you can limit the amount of high-fructose corn syrup in your diet, or eliminate it all together. Some ways to do this are to stop eating fast food, drink less soda, cut down on juices with a high concentration of sugar, and limit processed foods from your diet.
According to a recent study, sixty-five percent of the American population wants to get rid of HFCS (Nestle). This study was based on three thousand participants that were taught about the positive and negative aspects of high-fructose corn syrup. These participants were all customers of Jason’s Deli, which has over two hundred outlets in the United States. Aware of the dangers caused by high-fructose corn syrup, Jason’s Deli banned it from all of its products (Nestle). By consuming products that contain HFCS, all we are doing is supporting it. If you want a healthier lifestyle, or if you want to go green, stop taking in high-fructose corn syrup. High-fructose corn syrup should be banned everywhere, before it can do any more damage than it already has.
i know its alot, but for every person that answers ill post anther question and u can answer it, and ill give you best answer, even if you answer with “hi” or something.

A: It is interesting to note that HFCS is not used in baby food. Do manufacturers know something that they have not disclosed to the rest of us? (add after Jason’s Deli)

In addition to causing soil depletion in the Gulf of Mexico, corn is one of the most genetically modified plants in existence. Banned in Europe, this Frankenfood’s pollen has overtaken most of the US corn crop. The chances of consuming US corn or any of its byproducts untouched by GMO are relatively nil.

(add after the dead zone note attributed to Hartman)

Q: How to eat healthy at Boars Head Deli.?
At my university, we are required to buy an allotment of money that can be spent on fast food places such as the on campus chick-fil-e, burger king, java city, ect.. but we also have this new place called Boars Head Deli that makes sandwiches.

I want to be healthy in addition to not gaining weight like many college students do, so is there any way to utlitize this sandwich making place without calorie bombing myself? I asked for a nutritional chart but they could not provide one and I’m being given the run around by trying to find one online

Thank you!

A: the sandwiches do not go bad, so get a 12 then only eat half save the other half for another meal go with whole wheat bread, turkey or chicken no spread extra veggies, drink water, try to cut out the cheese also, you will find that is fairly healthy and saves you time and money on half your meals
