Q: Health-Magazine-Subscription Reform: Mandatory subscriptions WOULD BE CONSTITUTIONAL, right?
Constitutionally, the government has the power to “regulate interstate commerce”, correct?
Therefore, the government would have the right to force people to purchase health-magazine subscriptions [with content on improving diet, nutrition, health, exercise, fitness], correct?
Here is the 10-point program that I propose:
1) These health-related magazine subscriptions [produced and distributed through private corporations -- thus we avoid the appearance of nationalized health care] would be made available in “public exchanges” online.
2) The magazines and their editorial policies would be thoroughly reviewed by federally-certified doctors to make sure they promote federally-approved drugs, therapies, and surgeries.
3) A primary aim of the program is to reach those people who currently lack health-magazine subscriptions. [The aim of this program is not to increase the profits of privately-owned health-magazine corporations and their corporate advertising clients.]
4) This program cannot really work efficiently unless all participate, that’s why it must be a mandatory program. The price of health-magazine subscriptions has risen dramatically, because too many people are getting sick, and not enough healthy people are buying them.
5) This program would help slow the rising costs of health-magazine subscriptions, and who knows, could eventually even bring down the costs of health-magazine subscriptions. However, this program would require people to buy a scubscription at whatever the free-market prices are. [OK, perhaps technically that last bit should read be "enhanced free-market" prices.]
6) Forced buyers of low income would be federally-subsidized, and…
7) the best way to pay for this program would be to tax the people who have been the most successful. Since these people already have easy-access to health-magazine-subscriptions, they shouldn’t mind helping to provide others with similar subscriptions.
This program would over time reduce the national deficit, because expert government accountants have done the projections, and that’s what the projections show.
9) If people were forced to spend money as soon as the law were passed, they might not see the program in a balanced way — so the forced-purchase part would only kick in about 4 years later (well beyond the next presidential election in 2012).
10) However, many of the taxes implemented by this program would kick in immediately.
This reform would not be socialism or fascism, as long as constitutionally-elected and legally-lobbied representatives voted it into law.
[Coming soon: Federally-mandated purchases of multiple-vitamins -- the vitamins would be produced by private corporations, under federal guidelines, of course]
.
A: No. Regulating commerce does not equal requiring individuals to purchase anything, except in Bizarro Obama world..
Q: Exercise and Nutrition Careers?
I love the health field, (specifically nutrition and exercise). It seems that the pay in these fields aren’t so great, it’s like you have to be a PT or PA to get good pay. I don’t have that passion to be a physical therapist or physicians assistant to get through the course load. I love exercise, holistic approaches and nutrition. Any advice for great paying, exciting Exercise and Nutrition careers?
A: Nutritionist
Dietetic Technicians
Physical Education Teacher
Fitness Trainer
Military
Q: In 2 days I will decide my future career, any advice?
My loves. . .Nutrition, health, exercise, art, beauty, exploration, and a little freedom
My needs… security in job, decent salary, and something that brings a new experience everyday, and holidays off!
A: Focus on employability, not employment. Basically, you want to make sure that every step of the way makes you eligible to get employed somewhere else. That way, when you end up in a job or career that turns out much different than you expected, you can change.
Imagine this scenario: My boss at a warehouse job I held one summer told me he’s an artist. I asked him why he’s not pursuing creative endeavors. He told me that if he had to try and make money from his drawings, he would absolutely hate his life, and eventually hate drawing too. He makes very good money running a warehouse, and pursues visual arts as a hobby. He has stability, income, and time for his passions.
So, before you jump at a career, also consider whether it’s practical. I don’t think any of the loves you listed qualify under job security and decent salary. Some people made successful careers in he health industry, but they were also savvy business operators, not just fit pretty boys.
Also, don’t wimp out. In the current job environment, consider that whatever you chose to do, you will have to give it your all, or the other kid will, and you will be the loser talking about how you tried but failed once. This is the part most complainers don’t grasp. You have to be better than 60% of people out there to be considered good at something. HOLIDAYS OFF? Don’t ever mention that during an interview. The only thing you should say is that you don’t want holidays, because you love what you do, and don’t mind doing it all the time. Of course you’ll get them off with most professions, but it should never be a priority.
Q: HELP! develop a realistic nutrition and exercise plan to summarize in a 1,400- to 1,750-word paper.?
The plan should be plausible enough to be initiated within the next 30 days and continued throughout your life. Be sure to include the following:
•Identification of the health/nutrition problem targeted
•Four nutritional or physical exercise goals
•Actions taken to meet each goal
•Anticipated setbacks or difficulties, and methods to overcome them
•Outcomes by which to measure success
•Evidence of the plan’s effectiveness in addressing the identified problem or need
•Identification of potential health risks that may develop if the plan is not implemented
Your paper should also address how your plan may be adjusted to fit your changing nutritional needs as a result of age, pregnancy (if applicable), or changes in physical capabilities. Be sure to include information about physical activities, and how they may be altered to accommodate different seasons of the year and changes in age. Include all applicable references in APA format.
A: Finding the initial information for this really rests on exactly what kind of nutritional regimen you want to implement and what kind of exercise is realistic for you. Once you know these then its a matter of a littel online research. You can research various dietary modifications (such as increasing your intake of specific ingredient salads) and find documentation on others that have done so and what their results were.
Then you research the exercise plan you want to start finding information online from people who have been doing it for w hile and have documented their results.
once you have this information you will need to review others results and look for the specific information that would apply to your situation. If there or precautions you need to take in order to implement a certain nutrition strategy then write those down. Also do the same for the exercise plans.
Now make an honest inventory of any and everything in your life that would keep you from completely implementing the pla you have come up with.
If you do all this then you should have all the documentation and information you need to complete your assignment.
Now its just up to you to go do it!!!
Good luck!
Q: Personalized Nutrition and Exercise Plan?
Purpose of Assignment
Students incorporate all of the nutrition knowledge they have acquired in the course into the creation of a flexible nutrition and exercise plan that can be modified to address their changing needs throughout their lifetime.
Describe briefly a current health problem or nutritional need that you are experiencing, or a health or nutrition problem you can foresee experiencing because of your family history. Using insights from the “MyPyramid Plan” Web exercise, the Recommended Dietary Allowances, Recommended Dietary Intakes for your age group and gender, and information from readings, develop a realistic nutrition and exercise plan to summarize in a 1,400- to 1,750-word paper. The plan should be plausible enough to be initiated within the next 30 days and continued throughout your life.
• Include the following:
Identification of the health/nutrition problem that will be targeted
Four nutritional or physical exercise goals
Actions taken to meet each goal
Anticipated setbacks or difficulties and approaches for overcoming them
Outcomes by which to measure success
Evidence of the Plan’s effectiveness in addressing the identified problem or need
Evaluation of potential health risks that may develop if the plan is not implemented

A: Do you really think someone is going to do all of this? Do your homework lmao
Q: What do you think of the tradition of making specific New Year’s resolutions?
Does that really work for you? Omg, I sound like Dr. Phil. Mea culpa.
On my end, I believe in setting achievable goals in all the important areas of my life, but I also think a person would set him- or herself up for failure with a resolution such as “I”m going to lose twenty pounds by April.” Isn’t it better to set a more doable broad-based goal, as in “This year I am going to take excellent care of myself–body, mind, and spirit,” including in that being open to making sound, step-by-step changes re daily nutrition, exercise, health education, and spiritual practices? Just thinking..
What do you think, folks? Do you make resolutions? Do you set goals? Or do you just hope for the best and let things flow?
Wishing everyone a Happy New Year in peace.
A: Happy New Year to you too!
To me, I don’t make New Year’s Resolutions because I try to spread out my goals throughout the year. I don’t just make a resolution once a year. I feel as though things come up in between time, and there is always room to grow, learn, experience, encounter, achieve, and make better of.
I feel as though making specific goals can sometimes set you up to fail, and then you feel disappointed, and feel as though it is impossible. Which in fact nothing is impossible if you set your mind to it, but once a year shouldn’t be the only time to try to achieve certain goals in your life.
You can hope for the best, and go with the flow, but to conquer any type of goal, or dream, you have to make it happen yourself. It doesn’t come to you. You have to go get it. Period.
Happy New Year to everyone on Y/A! And to my Cyber friends. You know who you are.
Q: do you think this is suppose to be an essay?
i have this topic analysis thing and i have to find an article about health, exercise, nutrition, etc.
and do an analysis about it. my friend said it’s suppose to be an essay…idk if shes right.
but it says on the sheet that the analysis has to have
-a bibliography
-i have to identify the thesis statement or main idea
-i have to write a summary of the article.
-outline the key points
-write a summary of my opinion on the article
-state whether or not the article has a significant quotation and if it does, to quote it.
-formulate 5 questions raised by the article
also….it said the analysis has to be two pages.
if its suppose to be an essay…i have no idea how to put all of that together and write it like one……
what do i do?
is it suppose to be like an essay?
any suggestions or anything anyone can do to help me w/ this would be great.
A: Don’t get scared by the word “essay.” Actually, essay writing can be really fun. Your favorite magazine and newspaper columns–you know, the kind where the author’s photo appears near the top–are essays, and they can be interesting, infuriating, filled with opinion, creative and, really, not all that difficult to write.
This paper sounds like a more formal kind of essay, like a very short research paper, but you’re expected to write your opinion, so my advice is to pick a topic that you’re interested in enough to actually have an opinion on. If it’s something you have a *strong* opinion about, the paper will be a lot easier to write.
To get started, look through some publications (journals, magazines, newspapers) to find an article on a topic you think is interesting. It should be one you feel strongly about. If you really disagree with the article, then so much the better.
The thesis will most likely be the thing about the article that you agree or disagree with the most. But it’s really just a brief statement of the author’s purpose in writing the article.
Your bibliography will cite this article. If the article itself cites other articles, books, films, etc., then list them in the bibliography, too.
Unless it’s a really dull article, it will have at least two or three significant quotations, either from experts or from published sources that you’ve listed in the biography. Pick the quotation that seems the most interesting or profound or irritating–that’s the one you’ll quote in your analysis.
Now just think about why you agree or disagree with this article. If the article is just another example of some writer trying to [fill in the blank--some objectionable thing], then think about why all those people are categorically wrong, and why your opinion is much more correct than theirs.
Pick specific examples in the article and refute them one by one.
If you can keep a logical flow, it should pretty much write itself.
Q: can someone give me job advice please!?
I have a degree in Exercise, Nutrition & Health Sciences (2:2), no real work experience, no money for any more courses and want to work in the fitness industry. I need a job fast, want to work in this industry and have no time for voluntary work as I need money. I’m 24 and live in the UK. realistically what are my options as I can’t seem to find work doing anything. Thanks.
also I’m not on benefits and live with my parents. They give me money but I want to do it on my own. I don’t have much confidence at the moment.
A: If you have a degree – or any extra qualification – then you’ll already be in advace of of the bunch when it comes to looking for professions. My mate has a degree and he wasn’t sure what direction to go with it, but he stumbled upon some excellent instruction on the resource in the resource box below which guided him to settle that he wanted to be a lab assistant. There is a lot of help on the resource regarding extra professions.
Q: i wanna major in health..but job oppertunities for it?
Im looking to go into a field of nutritionist or something idk what else would have to do w/ health and nutrition/exercise besides physical trainer..im not sure what else..what other jobs would be in this category and possibly some good colleges for this type of major?
yamster an endowhat?? lol
but seriously what is that
ahh i see hmm interesting i gotta look up some stuff on this u knoww ur a very smart guy im assuming ur looking into this? hm we could start are own office being nutritionists and helping pple with it ha
A: You could be an endocrinologist, I’m considering that, not nutritionists, they don’t make that much. Lol, there are very few nutritionists that actually know what they are talking about.
Edit: An endocrinologist studies the endocrine system and helps people with problems related to the endocrine system. The endocrine system is responsible for secreting hormones (such as insulin), which serve various purposes. Endocrinologists can make a ton of money, and for someone who likes nutrition it would be a fairly interesting job.
Edit: Yeah, I’m looking into it. Yeah, we could make a good business off of it, lol.

A: This is one of the most urgent and serious problems of modern society as there are many sedentary people who doe their health conditions to the lack of physical exercise. For this reason there have been numerous health policies introduced for these cases. Here is my source: http://www.myhealth-forum.com/
Q: what kind of careers can u make out of being a nutrition/health major?

A: I had the same interests and did not pursue them, and now I would love to be a dietician in a hospital.
Being a dietician offers many possibilities.
Q: Education Reform (CA)?
It’s no secret, our system of education is not working. I was talking with my girlfriend this morning, and we kinda came up with a proposal.
We’re going to send a letter to the State Board of Education, but first we wanted to ask Y!Answers a question.
Our goal is to:
1. Get rid of subjects that aren’t really used in society.
2. Add subjects that are necessary in society.
3. Cut down the amount of time kids spend in school (by law).
4. Make schooling more efficient.
What do you think should be core subjects students K-8 take?
We came up with a couple, feel free to add to or critique what we have…
Elementary School
1. Math (Up to Basic Algebra, percentages, interest, etc…)
2. English (Grammar, Vocabulary, Spelling, Sentence Structure, Formal and Business Letters, etc…)
3. Social Studies (Basic laws, our Political System, what it means to be a citizen, how to participate in government, the court system, etc…)
4. Computer Science (Basic computer skills, Basic office skills: Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.., how to navigate the internet, etc…)
5. Physical Education
6. Optional: Electives (Music, Dance, Art, etc…) You have to pay for these or do some fundraising though
Middle School
1. Health (Nutrition, exercise)
2. Application of Elementary Courses. For example, have them watch the local news and throughout the year work on ways they can help work towards a solution to a problem in their society. In other words, teach kids how to apply what they’ve learned to real life.
3. Sex Education (Abstinence, Protection, Consequences, etc…) This is important though, teachers will have to be as unbiased as possible. Really teaching kids about everything, without leaning one way or another. This class should also try to involve each students’ parents as much as possible.
4. Drugs and Alcohol (This includes prescription drugs as well as illicit drugs)
5. Voting (Students need to become more politically active so that their voices are heard)
6. Social Life (Kind of like a Career Guidance class. Talk to kids about why it’s good to pursue further education – High School – and explain to kids what they can expect if they finished at 8th grade or so. Explain what kind of jobs they can get, but also how they won’t be able to get paid as much or move up as easily as they could if they continued their education)
We think that by making High School optional, the kids that want to be their will be more motivated to stay. We’re losing a lot of kids due to overcrowded High School classrooms, and overcrowded with kids that don’t want to be there. They’re disruptive and the teacher has to sacrifice the education of the many for the few. I think by doing this, we’ll shrink class sizes drastically, and give teachers and schools greater control of their classrooms.
There can be social benefits for staying in school, like job assistance and welfare aid available to those who finish High School. A two-fold minimum wage. One for those who only complete Junior High, and one for those who complete High School.
Instead of trying to graduate everyone (thus reducing the meaning of a High School Diploam) we should focus what we teach our kids in middle and elementary classes, and then let those who want to continue receive better education in High School.
History shouldn’t be taught in middle school. It makes no sense, and it puts kids off school. They get so used to b#tching to each other about their classes that it just continues straight on through High School. I know this proposal is radical, but we need a change badly. And what better state to try it in, than California.
Thoughts?
MissBehavior…I’m not sure I understand all of what you mean. What exactly am I leaving out? I’m simply postponing those classes that tend to cause children to be put off of school for a later period (high school). How does history or science or whatever else I’m “leaving out” help develop a child’s soul?
Keep in mind these classes are in place now, and they aren’t doing anything except making the lives of serious high school students and high school teachers miserable.
All I’m suggesting really, is to reogranize our education system. Teach students the importance of education before “educating” them. Understand?
Instead of teaching European history in 7th grade, when students couldn’t care less, teach them European history in 10th grade and use the extra time in 7th grade to help them understand the importance of learning as much about our past as the basic skills you need to survive in society.
By the way, I’d expect that most parents would still have their kids go to HS
A: I am a teacher. I think what needs to be done is this: test the children in a class each year, as school begins. At the end of that year, retest the children. I believe where there has been no learning, there was no teaching. Teachers are quite often not really in to teaching! Some dislike the children. Some are just lazy. I believe elementary children should be tested, first. This is where children (without realizing it) decide if they even like school or NOT. The happy teacher, who teaches well, will show a classroom of students who have learned a lot from that teacher.
Q: Anyone know a good article about exercise or nutrition?
I’m taking a health class and right now we are learning about nutrition and exercise. As a homework assignment, I must write a review about an article talking about what we nutrition or exercise. Do you know any good ones? Please give me the link (:
A: I wrote a bunch at http://straighthealth.com Enjoy them.
Q: WHY ARE GYMS, HEALTH CENTERS, AND NUTRITION AND HEALTH SUPPLEMENT SHOPS OVERWHELMINGLY WHITE WITH FEW BLACKS?
It seems gyms, fitness centers, training such as yoga, health food store or nutrition shops, or anythong related to fitness and exercise is oevrwhelmingly white. no matter where you go, its mostly whites and few blacks.
hence is this trend so common are blacks not into it
A: Because blacks are naturally more muscular and toned, than whites.
